Hole 9 and 18
The signature hole at Mosman Park awaits the golfer at 9/18. A mid-to-long par 4, it tends to play into the wind once the sea breeze arrives, making a well-struck, preferably right-to-left shaped tee shot essential. A large bunker on the left-hand corner of the dog-leg must be avoided at all costs. The fairway shares land with the 1st hole, so plenty of room is visible to the right, but the closer one dares to drive toward the bunker, the better the angle into the green.
A very large green is protected by an equally deep bunker front right and a more conventional hazard pin-high to the left. The back-right pin placement is the most difficult and should be respected, with the approach shot aimed at the middle of the green only. Somewhat unusually, long is perhaps the safest miss to try to salvage a par. Four will always be a very good score here.
